Listening Heart Crisis Center

Listening Heart is a Listening Service. Sometimes it's hard to talk about certain problems or issues with our family and friends. As trained peer listeners, our volunteers are ready to provide compassionate, non-judgmental listening for anything you want to discuss. We won't tell you how to solve your problem, but we'll help you figure out what options you might have.

Listening Heart is a Reassurance Service. Sometimes an elderly person doesn't want to impose on their loved ones, but would like someone to check in with them once in a while, maybe because they are not feeling well, maybe because they're lonely and just want someone to talk to. Whatever the reason, we are there for them. If requested, we will call as reasonably often as we can to make sure that person feels connected and looked after by his or her community.

 

Listening Heart is a Referral Service. In partnership with 211, we have an extensive list of services, agencies and individuals in Asheville and the surrounding counties that are available to help you. If you're not sure what you're looking for, let us help you narrow it down. From housing assistance to grief support, we know who's available to help.

Does your organization need a speaker? Listening Heart's speaker's bureau will be happy to visit your school, business or community group. Our presentation topics include depression and suicide, stress management, sexuality issues, crisis intervention and a variety of other issues. Contact us for more information.

Want to volunteer? Our volunteers provide compassion and acceptance around the clock.  New volunteers are trained four times a year. If you're interested in joining Listening Heart, call the center for additional information, or apply here on our website!
